The Ministry of Culture needed to launch an information platform in record time to connect key actors in the creative sector and support the distribution of funding.
The Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic is the central public authority for culture. Within the Kreativní Česko programme, it needed to create a publicly accessible portal enabling creative professionals and organisations from the cultural and creative industries to register and apply for support through the Kreativní Vouchers funding call. The task was clear: to launch the first functional version of the platform quickly and introduce a transparent method of project management.
We developed a modern portal in the PHP programming language, enabling the Ministry of Culture to launch the registration of creative entities on time.
The challenge
Time was the key factor – the portal had to be launched so that creative professionals could apply for support from the funding call as soon as possible. The project was also implemented within the environment of public administration, where the use of agile development is still the exception. It was necessary to establish effective management, ensure clear communication between the development team and the ministry, and deliver a solution that would be sustainable and expandable in the long term.
How we solved it
We created a joint team that worked together on a daily basis. Development followed the Scrum methodology and was managed with Jira, ensuring full transparency. The portal was built in PHP to meet user needs as well as requirements for stability, security, and future expansion. Thanks to close collaboration, the first functional version was delivered on time without compromising quality.
The Kreativní Česko project became a functional tool supporting the cultural and creative sector. The number of registered creatives and organisations exceeded expectations, and the gallery played a crucial role in implementing the Kreativní Vouchers programme. The Ministry of Culture also gained valuable experience with agile development and efficient digital project management, which it can apply in other areas. The portal is ready for further growth and integration with other information sources.
